Kreamed by Komodo Dragon

Death always comes too early or too late.

ENGLISH PROVERB

Lying about 240 miles east of Bali in indonesia, Komodo is a desolate, volcanic, “moon-surfaced” island and home to the largest lizard living on earth, the fabulous and fierce Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis). Only here and on five neighboring islands do there be dragons. Dark gray and scaly with flabby necks, short snouts, and large mouths filled with small daggers, Komodo dragons are up to 10 feet in length, up to 500 pounds in weight, and up to no good when aggravated. Extraordinary athletes, they can easily run down the swiftest human runner and swim down the swiftest human swimmer. They can dig fast, climb fast, and eat fast, and their diet consists largely of meat: wild buffaloes, wild deer, wild pigs, wild goats, and wild-eyed humans dumb enough to get too near. A large part of their meals is carrion, and they’ve been known to raid graveyards, exhuming and devouring human corpses. They also eat each other, a habit that keeps baby Komodo dragons pretty much in the tops of trees for the first couple of years of life. Nearly deaf and nearly blind, these dragons can smell dinner up to 4 miles away with a favoring breeze.
